This 2 weeks program aimed at training artistic and fundamental life skills, and educate about a common social issue using breakdance and beatboxing(vocal percussion) with approximately 98 students (boys and girls) in Primary Six (p.6) at Shimoni Demonstration School in Kampala, Uganda.
These were a series of workshops which culminated into a public performance/mini school event. During these workshops, students learnt together and exchanged ideas while working towards a common goal.
Their performance was a non-verbal theatre kind (Hip-hop theatre), entertaining and educating about a common social issue and was followed by an open discussion involving the audience to share their opinion and suggest solutions.
Thanks to Mrs Coralie Schmidt, Kirumira ‘Kibumba’ Issa, Okot ‘Beatboxer Scooter’ Gilbert, Opio ‘Mos Opten’ Moses and Shimoni Demonstration School for the contribution.
